Congratulations to ORR athletes Sarah Boudens (K1W), John Hastings (K1M) and Cameron Smedley (C1M) on their racing at slalom World Cup #1 in Cardiff Bay UK this past weekend. Due to high winds, the Qualifying Heats for the K1M and C1M were cancelled, and all K1M and C1M athletes were moved into a larger semi-finals. The K1W category progressed on schedule.

Cameron Smedley was the Canadian athlete to watch, placing 9th in C1M in his first World Cup finals.

John Hastings placed 18th in semi-finals, narrowly missing the finals with one 2-second penalty. He placed ahead of his K1M teammates, Paul Manning-Hunter in 26th place, and Ben Hayward in 44th. Sarah Boudens placed 38th in K1W, ahead of teammates Jessica Groenveld (39th) and Florence Maheu (42nd).
