K1M, 13th Michael Tayler,
K1W, 16th Jaz Denhollander, 21st Marissa Dederer,
Qualification Races:

Max-Emil Petitclerc of Quebec narrowly missed the semi final placing 42nd just two spots shy of the 40 who advanced. Adrian Cole of Alberta ended the day in 61st place in K1M
In an incredibly difficult course, it was interesting to see who rose to the top here. Only 2 C2's managed a clean run in the qualification runs and many other classes had similar difficulties on this narrow, fast course incorporating many reverse and spin gates. The German teams came out on top on many categories, to match their 4-0 upset in football.

Mens K1, John Hastings 14th, Ben Hayward 28th, David Ford 37th
Woman's K1, Sarah Boudens 26th

Results from 3 days of racing at Wasau, Wisconsin. A long course(see times) over a fairly shallow section favoured those who were good sprinters and well conditioned for longer races.

National team members Jessica Groenveld (K1-W), John Hastings (K1-M), and the C2 crew of Cam Smedley and Ben Hayward all captured gold at today’s Charlotte Open.
Groenveld, who finished third in the semi-final, demonstrated significant composure and strength in the final and took the win over American Ashley Nee by a comfortable 1.4 seconds. Groenveld finishes the NC tour with three Gold medals and has solidified her spot as the K1-W boat to beat in North America.
Similar to Groenveld, Hastings finished the semi-final a few seconds outside of the lead. In the final run, Hastings stepped up and delivered a very fast and clean run. Although Hastings claims it wasn’t perfect, he was happy with how things turned out. “You know, it wasn’t perfect, but I pulled really hard the entire way down, and I am really happy with how it turned out, it’s a good way to end this trip and series of races.” Hastings wasn’t the only Canadian on the K1-M podium; joining him was Nathan Davis who finished third. Congratulations to both.
In the C2 class, the newly formed team of Ben Hayward and Cameron Smedley finished first. This team, who formed last year narrowed out the American team of Staszko/Williams for the victory. Smedley, who races C1-M also, finished third in today’s race also. Asked about what it’s like to balance racing both disciplines, replied, “Yah, it’s a lot of fun doing both, but, you gotta be sure to manage your energy well as they are both so physically demanding, especially here in Charlotte!” It was a successful weekend for Canada, owning the podium in three of the five categories!
Please see the attached 'Final' results from the weekend in pdf format. Results for each day's races can be seen on the link below that if you want to see more.
